How to become a Registered Nurse in United States of America (for New York state, only for foreign nurses)

First of all, you should have the following:

- Certificate, Transcript and diplomas
- ACTIVE VALID LICENCE  FROM YOUR HOME COUNTRY
- Program entry and Graduation dates. (Must be accurate)
- Address of Nursing school and Nursing Council
- Payment.

                       CGFNS PROCESS

STEP 1- Apply to CGFNS at http//cgfns.org/

• Create an account in CGFNS website.
• Fill your demographic information.
• Choose the Service.(CVS for New York state)
• Write your correct information about nursing education, school address and licensing.
• Make the payment online ($390 )
• Submit application online.   

        -Submission

•  Print --       1. Application form (submitted online earlier)                                                                                2. Authorization to release license.                                                                                                  3. Authorization to release transcript.
• Notarize application (not other)
• Mail these 3 documents to CGFNS. The mailing address will be on the top of these forms.
• Then follow up in nursing college and council in your home country if they have received the documents from CGFNS .                                                                                                                   

 STEP 2  -Apply to NYS licensing board 

      Download and print Nursing form 1 (no online       submission available to submit the form)

• Write your correct information.
• Photo is also needed   .
• Notarize and mail to to the licensing board with the payment its about $143 by money order or personal check.
• Wait for the processing time.   
• STEP 3  - Applying to Pearson Vue   

• Create an account online and submit application with $200 payment.
• Choose the Exam date ,,you will be able to choose  exam date after receiving the approval from Educational board and you can request for ATT. The board will not release the ATT until you request .
• you must take exam within the 90 days of  issue date of ATT.

                SOME REQUREMENT

To become an RN you must..

                    -  Pass NCLEX RN exam.

                    -  Child abuse prevention and infection control workshops.

                    -  English exam is no required for New York state.
